From the pink socks that pull out the subtle pink threads in her sweater to the unique denim pieces she picks to push the client just outside their comfort zone, everything Alex Schwartz does is with intention. She has an eye for detail that’s only upstaged by her ability to feel the look: “It’s hard to describe. I feel like it’s just something within you that’s intangible.”

Her knack for styling goes back to her childhood where she was surrounded by an artistic family. Her mom often made her clothes and had her ‘model’ them - sparking Alex’s early love for fashion and ultimately giving her the confidence to wear whatever she dreamed of.

She finds inspiration through visceral colors, aesthetics, mosaics, and even Y2K, and has used it to personalize both her own look and the clients she works with. While her sense of style continues to evolve as she enters new phases of her life, the concept of timelessness continues to be a central theme. “I want to be able to look back at it and be like ‘I stand on that still’,” she says when it comes to putting an outfit together.

Understanding the core elements of an era allows her to build a look from the ground up, whether it’s for an everyday outfit or a vintage-inspired shoot - like the one for this edition. She procures staple pieces that fit the clients and the space, and then works on selecting the complementing clothes. From bold, belted shoes to bomber jackets reminiscent of the 80s, each article of clothing is curated to accentuate the wearer’s aura - elevating parts of themselves they may never have thought to.

For Alex, it’s all about self confidence. Enhancing how someone feels with what they wear, especially for those daring to dress outside of the ‘norm’, is a crucial part of the styling process.

“If you think, ‘I like this, I think I look good in it, and this feels like me’ people are going to see that and all of a sudden your quote “strange looking outfit” to society is going to get recognized by the people that are meant to see it.”

Alex is a thoughtful creative, attentive to the smallest details, even those unseen. Her looks will continue to gain traction as she establishes herself as a visionary that’s focused not just on the clothing itself, but the wearer, too. She empowers each individual to embrace their authentic self through thoughtfully curated fashion that is a natural extension of their personality: “You’re not dressing for anybody but yourself and the people who are supposed to understand it will.”

Alex's ability to cultivate a relationship between the clothing and those in it transcends creative expression and will continue to transform how individuals connect with fashion.
